The Australian Copyright Act 1968 allows the copying of non-infinging works, works that have been legimitely obtained. See more detailed notes at https://www.yesvideo.com.au/y/copyright.htm.
The YesVideo transfer from video & audio tape or film process creates an MPEG2 digital file suitable for burning to a DVD.
To make the video easy to use directly on the USB or to be copied into a computer, YesVideo again converts this file to MP4 format.
The MP4 format retains the YesVideo 54 chapter points in the video, but only the DVD shows the menus when starting the video.
This conversion to MP4 takes time and is covered in the $22 charge, which will also cover the cost of transferring your files and supply of a quality freshly formatted YesVideo USB of at least 16 GB or other media if needed. If your data is too large for USB you may have to supply a external hard drive or YesVideo Australia can supply one at cost.
When converting your audio cassettes or music CDs these are converted to MP3 at 192 Mb or higher if required, but on request can be AAC or MP4 audio.
Additionally YesVideo will not use client supplied USBs as YesVideo are extremely reluctant to insert a customer's USB or hard drive into any computers on our system due to the risk of transferring a virus from the USB or drive, despite scanning with anti-virus software.
There has also been an occasion where a client supplied their own USB without telling us that he had data on the USB and when we reformatted the USB to make space for the new files he lost his data.
Not only does YesVideo technology convert the tape and film to DVD
format, but it also adds 54 convenient on-screen chapter menus,
allowing you to move from scene to scene using your DVD remote control or when the DVD is in a computer DVD player using your PC's mouse. Simply move the cursor to the scene you
want to view and select it.
YesVideo technology automatically converts videotape and family movie films to DVD-R or for USB.

YesVideo does not usually offer a water damaged tape recovery service.
For information on what you should do to recover flood affected tapes see
https://www.yesvideo.com.au/y/products.htm#damagedvideo.
Tapes deteriorate over both time, use and environment. As these tapes age, they grow mould, which both weakens the tape so that it snaps repeatedly when played and also makes the images indistinct.
DVDs and USBs can be conveniently viewed on your notebook or desktop
computer, with suitable player, or your TV with a DVD player.
DVDs have index or chapter points that enable you to select marked
points directly, without fast forward or rewinding.
You can easily make perfect duplicate DVDs for back-up, and although DVDs
can be scratched they can usually be recovered, unlike tape, DVDs will not tangle, jam or fall
apart.
A standard VHS tape will give about 50 good quality viewings. Each
time the tape is run through the player, is sufferers greater damage,
i.e. incremental damage, as some of the magnetic coating wears.
A video tape is magnetic, and the magnetism is affected by leakage,
transference between the tape windings, exterior electrical and
magnetic forces, including the earth's magnetism. It says a great deal
for tape technology that tapes last as long as they do.
Video tapes gradually turn brittle and break, with VHS expected to
start serious deterioration at about 15 years.
Video tape over time will be attacked by mould which will cause the tape stick and then break when played, as well as cause the quality loss.
Broken tapes can usually be repaired, but at extra cost.
We have participating retailers throughout Australia. Use our Store Locator to find

Obtain an order form from this site.
Once Yes Video Australia receives your tape or other digital media, your order is usually processed within 4 to 15 business days. Including shipping and handling of media from one of our other stores, the whole turnaround time is usually about 2 weeks, but can take longer when we are very busy. Extra services such as film to DVD or USB can add up to 2 weeks to the delivery time.
YesVideo technology automatically converts up to 2 hours of videotape to DVD, and if you require a tape of more than 2 hours to be converted, you will be charged for the extra time as another master tape, and will be supplied with an additional DVD and packaging, with another 54 chapter points.
If we are not told at the time the order is placed that your tape
is longer than two hours, and that you wish to pay for an extra disc,
we will only copy the first 2 hours to disc, ignoring the rest of the
tape.
YesVideo technology allows you to convert one or two tapes with a total of 2 hours to YesVideo. The process automatically creates 27 chapter points from each tape. This is a feature from YesVideo and means that you can transfer two one hour Mini-DV tapes to DVD. The TOTAL maximum time from both tapes cannot exceed two hours.
Absolutely! When processing is complete, your videotapes are returned to you with your completed order.
We're very sensitive about handling our customers' videotaped memories. In order to make sure each videotape is as secure as it can be, we track each one by a unique identification number and all videotapes are kept securely in our facility throughout the entire processing cycle.
We will visually check every tape for dirt, dust, signs of damage
and wear. If we see that the tape is not in good clean condition, we
will return the tape to you, as we cannot run suspect tapes through
our system.
As part of the YesVideo production service every disc is checked. If any faults are found with the disc, we
will attempt to make another disc from your video, and if this is
still unsuccessful your tape will be returned and no charge made for
processing.
YesVideo themselves do not offer any editing services. However we work with several professional
developers who offer these services, at additional cost, which may be
considerable. A YesVideo DVD includes Digital Scrapbook™ editing
software that allows you to change the sequence of scenes, save scenes
compressed for emailing or for publishing such as on YouTube.
Digital Scrapbook™ works with Windows XP, and does not work with Vista or any later Windows software such as Windows 7 to 11.
YesVideo will play on approximately 99.9% of the DVD players in distribution. Because of differing DVD formats, a few very very old and badly worn players will not read a YesVideo. YesVideo's are stored on recordable discs, DVD-R, so if your player reads DVD-R it is likely it will read YesVideo. As a rule of thumb, newer DVD players are more likely to read DVD-R than players made before 2000.
YesVideo discs are designed for playback on both standalone DVD players and on Computers running Windows latest version of Windows with a DVD drive and DVD playback software.
A Macintosh computer running System X can be used to playback a YesVideo, but Digital Scrapbook™ will not run on a Macintosh.
Digital Scrapbook™ works with XP, but does not work with Vista or any later Windows software such as Windows 7, 8 or 10.
Yes Video visually tests every DVD or CD we create, as part of our standard quality assurance system by one of our staff. We will replace your DVD if it is found to be defective upon viewing, without question. However if the original tape is in a bad condition, or the images are unclear, we cannot improve on the original.
YesVideo Australia has been operating from early 2003 from North Sydney and now Bondi Junction.
We accept Visa and MasterCard without any surcharges, cash, secure internet payment, money orders and personal cheque.
YesVideo will transfer copyright material that is no longer available commercially as well as works that can be copied as described in the Copyright Act 1968 under YesVideo Australia's Terms and Conditions.
If you have any questions about the ownership of
the material on your videotape, please call +61 2 9959 3472.
We will not knowingly process any videotape that contains illegal or obscene content. If we discover such a tape, YesVideo reserves the right to refuse service for that particular order. You may still be liable for transport and handling costs.
The costs of converting up to two hours of a video tape to YesVideo is $59.95. This price includes Australian GST, converting the video, adding your title to the video, making 54 chapter points, printing the disc, printing a cover showing each of the chapters and DVD case. This is our recommended retail price. Prices may vary from store to store, and our Bondi Junction office is offering WINTER 2022 SPECIAL PRICING.
YesCD has been discontinued. We now transfer only to YesDVD or USB.
Extra copies including personally printed disc, case and label of each chapter will cost $19.95 each (RRP) if ordered at the same time as the master is created.
The minimum cost for extra copies is $19.95 (RRP) when you return a copy to us for duplication, plus shipping.
YesVideo will quote you directly on multiple copies.
We can process VHS, VHS-C, SVHS, Video-8, Hi-8, Digital 8, and Mini-DV tapes, in both PAL and NTSC format, and we can convert PAL Betamax tapes to DVD, in both PAL and NTSC format.
YesVideo Australia can transfer formats such as 8mm and 16mm movie film to digital videotape or to DVD. The cost for converting film is $79.95 setup, plus $0.30c per foot for converting 8mm and Super8 film. (Recommended retail prices only. Prices may vary from store to store.)
Yes. If you require your DVD to be in NTSC to be sent to the USA, just ask. There is no extra cost, but it could be a few days longer. Most Australian DVD players will play NTSC DVDs, providing you have a NTSC compatible TV. Your YesVideo will play equally as well on most DVD players and computers, as most have the facility to play the video correctly on your screen, irrespective of the original format.
Short for Phase Alternating Line, the dominant television standard in Europe, parts of Asia and Australia and New Zealand. The United States uses a different standard, NTSC, (National Television System Committee, which devised the NTSC television broadcast system in 1953). Whereas NTSC delivers 525 lines of resolution at 60 half-frames per second, PAL delivers 625 lines at 50 half-frames per second.
YesVideo is an automated system that captures 2 hours of video at an average of 4 mps, (Megabits Per Second), 1 1/2 hours at 6 mps, and 1 hour at 8 mps, all at a Variable Bit Rate. So if your video is less than 2 hours, you can have a higher capture rate, on request.
For TV viewing, YesVideo works with most stand-alone DVD players.
YesVideo will play on approximately 99.9% of the DVD players in distribution. Because of differing DVD formats, a few very old players will not read a YesVideo. YesVideos are stored on recordable discs, DVD-R, so if your player reads DVD-R it is likely it will read YesVideo. As a rule of thumb, newer DVD players are more likely to read DVD-R than players made before 2000.
For computer viewing, YesVideo requires a Pentium II PC, 266MHz or higher, Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/7/8, DVD-ROM drive, 64MB RAM, DVD Playback software, 16-bit color: 800x600 or a Macintosh running OS 9.0.4 or higher, with a generation-3 DVD-ROM* drive, 64MB RAM, DVD playback software.
*Generation-3 DVD-ROM: All Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White) and PowerBook G3 Series (Bronze keyboard) DVD configurations come with a generation-3 DVD-Rom drive. Earlier models have a generation-2 drive, which cannot read DVD-R.
Macintosh computers can be used for playing a YesVideo, but Digital Scrapbook™ will not run on Macintosh computers. Digital Scrapbook™ is suitable only for computers running old Windows operating systems.
Videotapes of copyright protected materials may not be transferred unless they are no longer commercially available. If you have any questions about the ownership of the material on your videotape, please call Australia 02 9959 3472.
Only authorized personnel directly involved in the processing cycle will have access to the contents of your videotape. We will not distribute any reproductions, images or scenes from your video without your permission.
